Filter elements are formed from several layers of material bonded together. The material is folded to give V or Y cross section and then stuck or welded to form closed pockets which are open in only one direction. The element works as a filter by trapping material in the pocket. It is cleaned and reused by reversing the flow. Used esp. to remove dust from a gas stream. The element can be reused a number of times but is simple and cheap to mfr. while being stable and durable in use.
