The clutchless automatic mechanical gearbox incorporates a driving bevel gear turning a number of gear columns on transverse axes fixed to the output shaft (C). Each gear on the columns meshes with a gear ring (E) in turn coupled to a wheel which can be held stationary by a band brake (F). The brake bands can be applied automatically, or by hand lever.
