The hollow suction cylinder is for a printing press, and a number of suction rings at intervals along it, contg. nozzles spaced round the periphery, and connected via ports in the cylinder with the vacuum chamber inside. The rings (14) slide axially on the cylinder (13) and between adjacent rings are variable-length connectors (18), typically in the form of bellows or telescopic tubes, so as to form a suction system for all rings. The number of rings and the length of the connectors can be such as to give overlapping areas of adjustment for the rings on the cylinder.
