Liquefying plant phosphatide(s) - by adding a re-esterified plant oil to the crude lecithin

The prepn. of liq. plant phosphatides comprises liquifying crude lecithins by the addn. of 3-5% of a re-esterified plant oil. Lecithin is used as an additive for food stuffs, as an emulsifier, usually by a stirring or kneading process, as an additive in the paint and dyestuffs industry and as a wetting agent in the steel processing industry. In all these applications the high viscosity of commercially available crude lecithin is a disadvantage. This invention produces liq. lecithin of viscosity 8,000-12,000 cP (cf 20,000-25,000 cP for crude lecithin).
