Powder lubricant compsn. for metal surfaces - contg. polyimide, or epoxy!-novolak resin and phenol! resin, and lubricant powder

A coating powder for prodn. of lubricant layers on metals contains (a) a polyimide or a mixt. of an epoxy-novolak and a phenol resin, and (b) a lubricant filler. The ratio by wt. of epoxy-novolak:phenol resin is 1:1. Claimed fillers are graphite, MoS2 and PTFE. The amt. is 5-30 wt.% w.r.t. the resin, esp. 20 wt.% graphite for oscillating sliding friction, or 10 wt.% graphite for uniform sliding fraction. The powder forms a firmly bonded layer, with good lubricating properties, little abrasion and good heat conductivity. A 0.05-0.3 mm. layer can be applied in a single operation.
