<p>An apparatus for removing the skull (20) from a metallurgical lance (14) having positioning means (26) mounted on a supporting member (32), a main arm (22) pivotally fixed to the positioning means (26), two jaw arms (24) pivotally attached to the main arm (22), activating means (34) for providing movement to each jaw arm (24) and a guide roller (114) and scraper blade (94) attached to each jaw arm (24) (Fig. 4). The apparatus may be enclosed in a housing (28) when not in use. Also electropneumatic timing circuitry is provided for automatically operating the apparatus.</p> |
