The invention relates to a force multiplying device comprising a body (10) in which a piston (18) is able to slide in response to the operation of actuating means (30). The transmission to the piston (18) of the force exerted by the actuating means (30) is performed by means of balls (28) of rigid material filling a control chamber (26) defined between the body and the piston. Application to largely or completely inaccessible force multiplying devices, and particularly to devices arranged in a sealed enclosure such as a glovebox in which toxic or radioactive products are handled. <IMAGE>
