<p>PURPOSE:To apply orientation treatment of good volume productivity and superior moisture resistance, evenness, etc. to transparent electrode substrates by coating the organic titanium compound having hydrolyzable groups on substrate surfaces and heat-treating the same thereby making the film stabler. CONSTITUTION:The solution of isopropyl triisostearoyl titanate, tetraisopropyl titanate, etc. shown by general formula I (R, R' are hydrocarbon groups containing one or more of P, S, N, O, etc.; X is hydrolyzable groups such as alkoxy) or general formula II (R is hydrolyzable groups of C1-8) is coated on a transparent electrode substrate and is heated for about 10 seconds to 60 minutes at room temperature to about 200 deg.C to form film. If necessary, the film is subjected to rubbing. Thence, the liquid crystal display panel is formed by using the substrates having undergone the above-mentioned orientation treatment in accordance with coventional methods. As the nonhydrolyzable groups of organic titanium compounds, the groups having polarity and aromaticity are suited for horizontal orientation treatment and long-chain alkyl groups are suited for vertical orientation treatment.</p> |
