PURPOSE:To maintain the cohevency of a sliver, and to improve the mixing state of a narrowed sliver, by folding the selvages of each sliver, which is being moved from a drafting unit almost at a constant length, in two. CONSTITUTION:The sliver drafted in the drafting unit is passed through the groove 2 of the isosceles trianguflar cross-section in the collector 1, and guided to fold both edges of the sliver up ward. At the outlet of the collector 1, the edges approach to each other more and more, and finally folded almost in two by the delivery rolls. A sliver having a width B almost half of the original one A is obtained without causing mutal movement of fibers even under the action of the groove 2 and changing the width by the further nip with the delivery rolls. The method is applicable to not only a roving but also a drawing frames. |
