PURPOSE:To improve the contrast as well as raise the emission of a filter-covered fluorescent body by coating the surface of the body with a boric acid derivative. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a filter-covered fluorescent body is coated with a boric acid derivative, e.g., zinc borate, aluminum borate, barium borate, calcium borate, strontium borate, or the like, by a method in which a fluorescent substance is first dispersed in a deionized water and then mixed with a pigment, and then the mixture is further mixed with an aqueous Na2B4O7 solution while stirring and then with at least one of sulfates and nitrates to form a filter and a layer of a boric acid derivative on each fluorescent body. The solid portion of the aqueous solution is then filtered off and dried, thereby fixedly coating the boric acid derivative on the surface of the fluorescent body coated with the filter. |
