Filter is for parental liquors and consists of a sealed flexible housing with inlet and outlet branches. This contains a filter element in the form of an outer membrane to remove bacteria and other fine particles supported on a mesh of coarser aperture. The element has a flexible frame. The inside of the element is connected to the outlet branch of the housing, so that filtration occurs from outside to inside. The housing has a vent device in it which allows gas collecting on the upstream side to be released without allowing the passage of any liquid. Used for filtering parental and other liquids esp. for intravenous injection to patients. Provides a filter with low press. drop which removes bacteria effective and which allows accumulated air to be vented.
