PURPOSE:To increase the yield of thin batteries in their manufacture and to improve and stabilize the discharge efficiency thereof, by forming cracks in the surfaces of a negative electrode or positive electrode formed into a sheet, and bonding it under pressure to a metallic envelope serving also as a terminal. CONSTITUTION:An active material such as silver oxide or manganese dioxide, a conductive material such as phosphorus graphite or carbonyl nickel powder, and a binder like polytetrafluoroethylene are milled together with some solvent, and then expanded by rolls into a molded mixture 1 of a sheetlike configuration. In a green stage, in which a part of the solvent is still remaining in the mixture sheet 1, or in a dry state, the mixture sheet 1 is bent in one direction or in both directions to form cracks 2 in one side surface of both side surfaces of the mixture sheet 1. The thus-prepared mixture sheet 1 is then bonded under pressure to a metallic envelope 3 which serves also as a terminal, thereby forming a positive electrode 4. |
