PURPOSE:To obtain an image receiving sheet having a superior recording sensitivity, forming a remarkably sharp recording image with high density, and also exhibiting a superior stability of recording image, by forming an image receiving layer made of a thermoplastic resin having a specific composition. CONSTITUTION:In an image receiving sheet for thermal transfer recording, an image receiving layer of the image receiving sheet is mainly composed of a reaction product of a vinyl chloride-vinyl alcohol copolymer and a polyvalent isocyanate compound. A part of a vinyl chloride group of the aforesaid vinyl chloride-vinyl alcohol copolymer may be substituted with the other vinyl monomer, but it is desirable for maintaining a superior dyeing capacity inherent in vinyl chloride groups that a vinyl chloride construction be at least 50wt.% or more, more preferably 80wt.% or more, of the total monomer forming the copolymer. In addition, the vinyl alcohol component is desirably contained in the range of 0.1wt.% or more, more preferably 1-10wt.%, of the total monomer composing the copolymer for ensuring the reactivity with the polyvalent isocyanate. |
