The automatically folding tent is designed for attachment to caravans and comprises an elongated housing. The ends are formed of plates. The lower part of the front side and the front part of the underneath side have an opening. A reel extends lengthwise in the housing and is pivot mounted, and has wound on it, the tent for extending through the opening. A driving bar is positioned on the opening and has a front side covering the lower part of the front side, and has an underneath side covering the front part of the underneath side.
