The improved design of a vending machine coin release mechanism is due to the fixed position of the shaft where the coins required for goods issue are collected. The lowermost coin in the shaft (11) acts as a dog for the releasing of a drawer (3) while the uppermost coin is held up by a bell crank (19) with an arm projecting into the shaft (11). The other arm of the bell crank is controlled by a recess in the programming bar (20) where the openings match the price for sold items. The release mechanism (8) includes a coin tester and a shaft (11) discharging into a coin collector. The drawers are pulled by a rod (6) featuring a latch (13) with a butting arm (15) and a sensing arm (17) which exhibits a slope (18) below the shaft.
