Pressure relief for building with explosion risk - by hinged flaps and dome covers in ceiling

Buildings contg. electrical equipment which may cause explosions, e.g. substations, are fitted with pressure relief devices in the roof to prevent injuries to passers-by. Ceiling above the switchgear has openings which are closed by hinged flaps, made pref. of aluminium and expanded polystyrene or expanded steel and polyurethane foam. Dome which is mounted above the flaps to protect against rain and snow is pref. made of glass fibre reinforced polyester. Perforated plates keep drifting snow and small animals out. Hot gases and explosive shock waves are thus released without endangering any persons outside.
