The plunger pump has cylinders containing the plungers, and forming a rotary spider. The plungers have shoes sliding against an adjustable cam. The shoes (12) merely bear against the plungers (19) without being positively secured to them, and all plungers are joined together by a coupling ring (28). The ring can be arranged to rotate with the spider (17), moving freely in relation to it and to the pump housing. Alternatively the ring can be coupled to the portion of the pump (10) forming the cam (11).
