PURPOSE:To make the constitution of the driving circuit simple and reduce power consumption by connecting the switching operating members composed of magnetic material to a reflecting mirror for optical path switching and disposing the elements provided with two sets of magnetic field units including driving windings in matrix form. CONSTITUTION:Switching elements 4 ar disposed in matrix form and windings 11 are commonly connected in series. Also, windings 12 are commonly connected in series. For example, to connect the communicating optical path from an optical fiber Y2 to an optical fiber X3, positive-polarity currents IY2 and IX2 are simultaneously inputted to the driving terminal corresponding to the row and column at their intersecting point, then the current IX2 flows to the winding 12 and the suction force to the ferromagnetic switching member 5 of the permanent magnet is negated, and at the same time the current IX2 flows in the winding 11, by which the suction force of the permanent magnet 9 is made stronger and the reflecting mirror 3 ascends to the specified position, thus entering the optical path. Since the mirror is held in that position even after the current is cut off, the power consumption may be reduced. When the current of negative polarity is input to the windings 11, 12, the mirror 3 returns to the original position. |
