The radiation instrument is suspended at an adjustable height above a therapy couch. A suction fan (6) draws in the cool external air (3b, 3c) through parallel channels (3) in which radiating elements (4) are placed. The heated air is expelled through openings (5) at the centre of the channels and, through vents at the top of the enclosed housing. The openings (5) could be in the form of overlapping vents so as to preserve as much as possible of the reflecting surface.
