Resin mixt. allowing direct metal plating contains 100 pts. wt. thermoplastic resin (I), 10-40 pts. wt. C black and 5-30 pts. wt. additive to increase dry etching effect. In a pref. modification, the mixt. comprises 100 pts. wt. basic material contg. esp. 60-90 pts. wt. (I) and 10-40 pts. wt. elastomer (II), 15-40 pts. wt. C black and, as dry etching effect-increasing additive, a water-soluble organic material (III) and/or a surfactant (IV). The compsn. allows dry etching by plasma oxidn. and can be electroplated directly, without a preliminary chromic acid treatment. The metal coating adheres well to substrate and has a good appearance.
