The cooker plate is surrounded by a sheet metal ring, with its inner section resting against the peripheral edge of the cooker plate and its outer section bent backwards and outwards to fit over the raised lip of the aperture for the cooker plate. The centre section of the ring forms the highes part, lying slightly above the surface of the cooker plate, or only just below this level. The raise lip of the cooker plate aperture fits into the centre section of the ring and projects upwards so that it is almost at the same level as the cooker plate.
