PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultraviolet light source that has a novel configuration.SOLUTION: Provided is an ultraviolet light source including: an electron beam emitter for emitting an electron beam; and (i) a luminescent layer having a quantum well structure including a well layer formed of a rock-salt structure MgZnO (0<x<0.55) single crystal and a barrier layer formed of a rock-salt structure MgZnO (0≤w<0.45, w<x) single crystal, disposed at a position where the electron beam emitted from the electron beam emitter, is incident, or (ii) a luminescent layer having a quantum well structure including a well layer and a barrier layer formed of a rock-salt structure BeMgZnCaO (0.5≤y≤1, 0≤x+z≤0.5) single crystal.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8 |
