<p>PURPOSE:To save transmitted information by making an input picture signal into blocks of each picture element, by cross-converting them and then by sequentially transmitting the conversion outputs from the lowest-order output. CONSTITUTION:Analog signal 31 obtained by a sequential scan is applied to terminal 30 and A/D-converted 32 into digital signal 33, which is sent to block-dividing circuit 34 to obtain blocks of a foxed-line picture element. Block-divided signal 35 is cross-converted 36 and the conversion output is stored in frame memory 38. After the conversion of one picture, coding circuit 40 codes the output to output coded signal 41 from terminal 42. At the reception side, input signal 41 is decoded 44 and the decoding signal is stored in frame memory 45. Stored signal 46 is cross- converted 47 reversely and the output 48 is supplied to block restoring circuit 49 to obtain sequential scanning signal 50, which is D/A-converted 51 into the original signal before outputted from terminal 53. At the transmission side, sequential transmission comes into effect from the lowest-order block and at the reception side, the transmission is stopped when the desired quality of the picture can be obtained halfway, so that the transmitted information can be saved.</p> |
