<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a pigment dispersion excellent in dispersibility and dispersion stability, by mixing a specified dispersant with a pigment and an organic dispersing medium. CONSTITUTION:A dispersant is obtained by reacting 100 pts.wt. alkyd amino resin or an acryl amino resin comprising an alkyd resin such as an oil- or fatty acid-modified alkyd resin or a hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate (a), 95-5 pts.wt. amino resin (b) such as a condensate of an amino compound (e.g., urea) with formaldehyde with 1-100 pts.wt. silane coupling agent (c) of formula I [wherein n is 1-3, X is a 1-18C alkyl, a phenyl or an alkoxyalkyl of formula II (wherein R' is a 2-3C alkyl, and R'' is X), Y is X, and R is an epoxy, NH2, SH, a halogen, a urea group or an organic residue having an ethylenically unsaturated double bond]. At most 80wt.% inorganic or organic pigment is mixed with the above dispersant and an organic dispersing medium such as xylene and/or n-butanol.</p> |
