PURPOSE:To enable direct mounting of a connector without stripping a jacket by covering a bare optical fiber consisting of a clad made of a resin and a core with a jacket of a resin consisting of polyolefin and vinyl silane. CONSTITUTION:The resin having the structural unit contg. ether bonds is used for the clad of the bare fiber and the layer formed by dissolving the resin consisting of the polyolefin grafted with the vinyl silane together with a silanol condensation catalyst, covering the same as a jacket on the bare fiber, then bringing the covering into reaction with steam or water is used as the clad in order to increase the adhesive strength of the jacket layer and the bare fiber of the bare optical fiber consisting of the clad made of the resin and the core. The jacket layer is thereby well adhered, by which the generation of a projection or recess by being influenced by the service temp. is obviated. The connection of the cord with the jacket held intact is possible even in the case of connecting the cord to a connector or the like. |
