PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper currency circulation apparatus enhancing speed of deposit/withdrawal of paper currency by preventing collision of paper currency with each other in the deposit and overlapped conveyance in the withdrawal without increasing the number of components or enlarging the apparatus.SOLUTION: The paper currency circulation apparatus includes: a paper currency winding member 5 in which the circumferential length of a paper currency winding surface is shorter than the paper currency; an endless paper currency holding belt 20 that comes into contact with a part of the paper currency winding surface to form a paper currency holding part 7 between itself and the part and form deposit/withdrawal parts 9 and 10 respectively at circumferential both ends of the paper currency holding part, and that is travelingly driven in the normal/inverse directions; two opening/closing members 40 and 41 for opening/closing the deposit/withdrawal parts respectively; and conveying means 50 that deposits paper currency with respect to the respective deposit/withdrawal parts mutually and receives the paper currency withdrawn from the deposit/withdrawal parts mutually.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
