PURPOSE:The device for automatically detecting defective rolls which comprises providing the friction members immobile to the roll which is not rotating and a friction member mobile to said roll when moved in pressure contact with the rolls of the continuous casting machine. CONSTITUTION:When the connecting fitting 32 of a detector 28 is connected to a dummy bar for pulling out the slab and is reverse fed from the outlet side of the casting machine, a pair of right and left stationary friction members 46 which are held energized to the top and bottom of a base 30 by means of springs 42 make pressure contact with inside and outside rolls 12, 14 and revolve these. On the other hand, a movable friction member 58 which is pressure-contacted to the inside and outside rolls by a spring 50 moves between stoppers 62, 64 against a spring 60 in the state that it is detained with the roll, when it contacts the roll which is not revolving. This relative movements are instantaneously detected by a detector, such as differential transformer, mounted to a bracket 48. |
