PURPOSE:To obtain a paste type storage battery having a longevity similar to the cald type by providing spacers of a flexible baggy form expanded with a gas filled inside at both ends of plate groups. CONSTITUTION:The spacer 4, formed by expanding a flexible bag of a synthetic resin, a rubber, etc., with a gas, e.g., air, an inert gas, etc., a liquid, e.g., water, oil, sulfuric acid, etc., or a meltable solid, e.g., paraffin, wax, a resin of a lower melting point than the material of the spacer, etc., blown into the flexible bag, and then by sealing it, is provided at both or one end of the plate groups 3. Thus, the plate groups can be sufficiently pressed and its longevity can be greatly lengthened without the use of any complicated structure. |
