The present invention discloses a head mount display apparatus and an operating method thereof. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the head mount display apparatus and the operating method thereof allow segmented image information including a plurality of image information such as application driving image and photographed image information to be displayed in the head mount display apparatus which is a personal viewer, and detect a motion (gaze) of a user without a separate input device such as a mouse or the like to convert the same into image information corresponding to the motion of the user. The operating method of the head mount display apparatus includes: an image output step of displaying segment screen information; a motion detection step of detecting a user motion based on sensing information; a focus location display step of displaying a focus at a location corresponding to the user motion; an image checking step of generating check image information; and an image converting step of converting image information currently being outputted into the check image information and outputting the same.
