A laminate for use particularly as sliding bearings has a metal substrate and an upper layer of thermoplastic polymer free from voids and containing metallic particles; the polymer is fused directly on to the roughened metal base and contains uniformly distributed finely dispersed lead, the polymer being polyamide. Pressure-resistant, dispenses with intermediate material between metal and top coating, can be cheaply produced continuously.
