The hospital bed has back and lower-leg rests hinging on horizontal axes on a centre section under the action of telescopic supports actuated by a handle. A telescopic rod between the rests is equipped with a locking device for the moving parts. This lock device (49) for the rod (45) is coupled to the actuating mechanism (41) for the lower-leg rest, and when the pin of the device is engaged it moves the pin of the mechanism into the free position. Conversely the latter pin is engaged when the former one is freed.
