Extinction takes place in an enclosure isolated from the exterior, the incandescent coke is sprayed with water and the water fraction leaving the system is discharged separately. Steam is mixed with water and condensed and the condensate is discharged by pumping, while the gases are drawn upwards without emission and discharged. The condensate is discharged as spray during the intervals between the extinction operations. A natural or artificial draught is maintained until the water is cooled. |
