The channel is intended for contg. a pipeline carrying a heated or cooled medium. It comprises pre-fabricated plates, rectangular-section members and/or U-section members. The inner walls of the channel are covered by plates consisting of heat-insulating mineral-base material. The plates are pref of foam-like material, with a heat conductivity of at least 0.06 kcal/mh degree C. This material may have a max density of 350 kg/m3, pref is not >250 kg/m3. When used for laying a flow and return line, such as in a district heating system, the channel is pref partitioned longitudinally by a plate in such material. To bed the pipe in the channel a yoke is supported on it which has an alloy steel plate or its underside surface which contacts a low friction, pref PTFE, slide plate on a traverse.
