PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biological treatment tank which is designed so that the quality of the water stored therein can be measured even when supply of the water to be treated thereto is stopped, and to provide a method for treating organic waste water.SOLUTION: Each of the first biological treatment tank 1 and the second biological treatment tank 2 has one of tower bodies 10, 20 each having the same shape and the same size. The water passing through a screen box 13 or a strainer 23 is raised in a rising pipe 33 or 43 by air lift action and returned to the tower body 10 or 20. The quality of the water is measured by a water quality measurement instrument arranged in the rising pipe 33 or 43. Even when supply of water to the biological treatment tank 1 or 2 is stopped, a blower 50 is operated and water is made to flow through the rising pipe 33 or 43 so that the quality of the water can be measured.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
