PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for determining Aβ turnover in blood.SOLUTION: The method for determining Aβ turnover in blood comprises the steps of: (a) determining the amount of labeled Aβ or the amount of labeled Aβ and unlabeled Aβ in a blood sample collected from a subject by means of mass analysis; and (b) calculating the clearance rate of Aβ, using the amount of labeled Aβ or the amount of labeled Aβ and unlabeled Aβ determined in step (a). (i) The clearance rate of Aβ is calculated, based on the amount of labeled Aβ or the amount of labeled Aβ and unlabeled Aβ in a sample collected between 10 hours and 20 hours after start of intravenous administration of at least one amino acid labeled with a stable non-radioactive isotope to a subject by 9 hours of infusion; or (ii) the clearance rate of Aβ is calculated, based on the amount of labeled Aβ in a sample collected 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10 hours after start of oral bolus administration or intravenous bolus administration of at least one amino acid labeled with a stable non-radioactive isotope to a subject.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
