The engine block (1) has an opening, to which a cove plate (2) is screwed. The cover plate carries a cylinder block (3) projecting from the engine which is eccentric to the drive shaft (13). A piston (4) in the cylinder is bolted to the end of a rod (6). The rod extends through an opening in the cover plate, and its other end carries a bearing (10) which runs on a cam ring (11). This is attached to a disc (12) which is rotated by the shaft (13) from the engine. The shaft drives other auxiliary equipment and is readily accessible for maintenance, because the pump is eccentric to it.
