Protection screen for use in overhead line repairs - can be rolled out on existing line conductors with insulation rods held together by cable

The screen finds particular application on overhead line conductor repair work where objects under the line have to be protected whilst a conductor is being replaced. The screen comprises a series of insulation rods or tubes (7) each with a roller or pulley (8) at each end, and is held together with a cable (6). The rollers are placed on a pair of strung conductors (4T) from which the screen is then supported. The rod (7) and roller (8) assembly is mounted, with its components close together, near a tower (3), and the end of the cable (6) attached to the tower. The screen is then pulled out and over the object (1) to be protected, and the free end of the cable (6) anchored. Work on replacing another conductor (2) can then take place with the object (1) protected against accidental dropping of the conductor being worked upon.
