The pump is partic. intended for a car air conditioning system. It comprises a housing (1) and impeller carrying radially movable vanes (13) which engage the inner housing wall (2). The radially inner side of each vane is convexly curved in an axial plane, whilst the impeller groove (12) bottoms are correspondingly concave. At least at one end face of the impeller, the ends of its grooves are surrounded by annular recesses (21) each containing an axially movable ring (23) with a slot (24) through which the vane passes. An annular groove (25) in that face intersects the recesses (21) and contains axially movable seal ring segments (26), whose ends engage pairs of adjacent rings (23).
