A product and method for use with a turbocharger system comprises a housing with a shaft rotationally supported by the housing. The shaft extends in an axial direction. A bearing assembly supports the shaft in the housing. A wheel is connected to the shaft and rotates with respect to the housing. A clearance opening is defined in the axial direction between the wheel and the housing. A thrust washer is engaged with the bearing assembly. The thrust washer has an outer circumference and is moved with respect to the housing. An efficiency washer is disposed around the outer circumference of the thrust washer and determines the clearance opening by defining a space within which the thrust washer moves with respect to the housing in the axial direction.
