The automatic feeding system is esp. for feeding pigs. It is used when fodder is available on demand from the animals. It comprises an automatic box feeder and it includes a supply tank connected with a feed trough via a regulatable slot which can be adjusted into the trough via a flap which can be pivoted with a screw spindle. The pivotable flap (10) is so formed in its bottom region by an arching or elbow (24) in the bottom region that the flap end defines the slit width (6) at its cross-sectional surface (16).
