A high-tension bushing insulator in an open air design consists of a cylindrical body of casting resin in which the conductor bar is held by bushings. The outside of the cylindrical body is surrounded by a thin layer of a weather resistant, leakage current and arc-proof synthetic material, pref silicone rubber, which is applied over an adhesion activator. While the elastomer is still viscous, prefabricated aprons are pushed over and are finally vulcanised together. The aprons are also preferably made of hot vulcanised silicone rubber. Such an insulator is much less expensive than one made of porcelain, yet prevents the penetration of moisture and is weather resistant.
|
