PURPOSE:To desulfurize exhaust gas containing SO2 or H2S by precipitating S as a solid by a method wherein H2S or SO2 is added to the exhaust gas at a specified ratio and reacted in the gaseous phase or under the existence of alumina particles. CONSTITUTION:Exhaust gas containing SO2, H2S or the like is admitted into a desulfurizing reactor 1. The reactor 1 is divided into two portions by means of a vertical dash-board 1C, which can transmit gas, and the particles 17 of alumina, bauxite, etc. are filled into both chambers 1A, 1B. The exhaust gas 12 is introduced into the reactor 1 and exhausted as gas treated. In this case, the SO2 of the 1/2mol of H2S is added from a feeding pipe 14 and let pass in the desulfurizing reactor 1 when a sulfide contained is H2S, and the H2S of the double mol of SO2 from the pipe 14 and let pass in the reactor when the sulfide is SO2. Solid S and H2O are formed by a reaction between H2S and SO2, the S is precipitated and attached onto the particles of Al2O3 or Al(OH)3 in the reactor 1 and removed. The Al2O3 and the Al(OH)3 are heated, and S is separated and recovered while being again circulated and used in the reactor 1. |
