A method of applying an open-work reinforcement member 12 to the surface of a plastic material 10 wherein said reinforcement member is embedded in the plastics material by the application of ultrasonic vibrations and mechanical pressure. In addition to serving as a reinforcement, the member 15 may also be utilised to join two pieces 13, 14 of plastics material together. It may also be adapted to serve some further purpose for example by carrying an eyelet 29 or a stud 18 which forms part of a two-part coupling. <IMAGE> |
