PURPOSE:To accurately detect the misfire of an internal combustion engine, by detecting high-frequency one of discharge currents. CONSTITUTION:A high-frequency discharge current sensor 31 detects the high- frequency component of a discharge current whenever ignition is caused on a spark plug 18-1. The output of the sensor not higher than about 100MHz is blocked by a high-frequency filter 32. If there is an output from the filter 32, it turns out that sparks are produced on the spark plug 18-1. If there is no output from the filter, it turns out that misfire is caused. |
