<p>A hose is used as a flexible conduit for electrical conductors and cables, to be laid below ground or to be installed inside machines where resistance to corrosive fluids, combined with mechanical protection and adequate flexibility is required. A metal strip (1) of S-section is wound to an interlocking spiral to form a tubular sheath (5). A tape (6) improves the flexibility if inserted between the flanges (2,3). The outer surface (15), including the grooves (4), consists of a material such as soft PVC in which a braiding (11) with wide meshes (10) is embedded. The pref. materials for the braiding is produced from filaments of polyamide or metal wire. Such a conduit can absorb high flexural, torsional, tensile and compressive stresses.</p> |
