They have advantages over previous types that have substantially uniform wall thickness and substantially constant internal and external dia. because of their lower apparent density. The fibre bundle used in the dialyser also has lower apparent density and greater compressibility; it tends to expand laterally, giving a well-dispensed mass of fibres and more uniform distiln. of the externally circulated dialysate.
