The speed of the automobile is regulated by comparison of the voltage from a reference potentiometer with the voltage generated by a frequency to voltage converter driven by pulses from a magnetic speed pickup. If a difference exists the electronic circuit drives a servomotor which drives a pinion (21) meshed with a rack (22). The rack is connected to the throttle via a flexible cable. The accelerator pedal is connected to the sheath of this cable. When the set speed is not exceeded the accelerator pedal moves the cable sheath (12) and the cable (30) with it so controlling the automobile speed in the usual way. If the set speed is exceeded the rack is moved to reduce the throttle opening regardless of the accelerator pedal position. If speed falls, the rack is moved to increase throttle opening. The electronic circuit includes an input to allow the regulating action to be overridden.
|
