The hand held cutting hook has a body of strong lightweight material. The body comprises two half-shell stampings of thin sheet-metal (3,3A) with arched surfaces and with longitudinal axial and lateral, ribs (4,4A). These are secured together by bending over after fitting one inside the other (5,5A), and by crimping or welding. There is no increase in thickness where the body emerges from the hand of the user. It has a cutting notch facing towards the user and gripping the stem to be cut, on a blade with a return spring, while saw teeth are formed in the ribs. A fixed handle and a moving handle working inside it, are secured respectively to the body and blade by moulding or welding.
