<p>Temp. of the melt in the vessel is measured just above the nozzle brick located in the base of the vessel, the nozzle brick being opened or closed via a stopper rod made of a material based on SiC and possessing high thermal conductivity and high wear resistance. Stopper rod contains an axial hole extending downwards to near its bottom end and contg. a thermocouple. SiC material is pref. bonded ceramically, or via a material which is not an oxide. General application, but esp. for the continuous or semicontinuous casting of Cu and its alloys, or Al and its alloys, so an exact casting temp. can be used and a stopper rod with long working life obtd.</p> |
