Disintegrating machine for wood - has feed conveyor working together with counter-rotating deflector roller

The disintegrator handles wood material and uses a shredding tool (10) fitted with a number of blades (9). The material (12) is advanced towards the rotating tool by a conveyor (1) fitted with lugs (17) on which the wood material rests. Before the material reaches the shredding tool (10) it passes underneath the roller (3) which is height-adjustable along an arc path (4). The gap between the roller (3) and the top surface of the conveyor (1) determines the height of material layer to be handled by the shredding tool. In order to control this height and to prevent overloading of the shredding tool a deflecting roller (14) is provided whose rotation is opposed to the conveyor motion. The roller (14) repels any piece of material coming towards the tool (10) at a layer height in excess of the gap (A) and prevents it from reaching the roller (3).
